3rd Step--Weekly Confession
Confession is one of the most important steps to saving one's soul because when one confesses one's sins, one admits that they are a sinner and makes the commitment never to sin again. Confession reunites us with God and brings us back into the state of grace. Going once a year to confession should not be acceptable because it is very risky to go that long with all of those sins on one's soul. Since most people sin on a daily basis, it is important that they keep their souls always in the state of grace by confessing sins as soon as they happen by going to confession with a Catholic priest at least weekly. For those who are more pious, perhaps they can confess their sins twice a month. Just as one stops bad habits by stopping them "cold turkey", this ought to be the same method in dealing with sinful bad habits too. As soon as someone is faced with the decision to sin or not to sin, that person should stop and think about what they are doing and side toward the decision to not sin as it will cause a separation from God. Separation from God should always be avoided. No action that is against God can be reasoned away. We should seriously think about the condition of our souls every day and do everything in our power to avoid all sin.
We, as Catholics, need to have a mature belief in our Catholic faith and the teachings of the Catholic Church. Since all people will have to answer to God for their actions when they die, they should become as knowledgeable as they can about their Catholic faith and try to avoid those things that would displease Our Almighty Father, Our Lord Jesus and Our Blessed Mother. Our spirtual life and life of our souls are at stake. We need to do everything we can to make sure we all go to Heaven and not Hell which according to Lucia, one of the seers of the apparitions at Fatima, describes as extremely horrible with unknown creatures and much fire. We all must take the things that we do every day seriously because God takes them seriously. We should also repeatedly advise others we know in our own family, friends and acquaintances about the reality of sin and the need for frequent confession to expiate our sins and to the important necessity of staying in the state of grace always.
