Single people, especially if they live on their own, sometimes begin to long to have a male-figure and protector in their lives. They may miss a male presence in their lives, especially when their own fathers may live far away or are deceased. Some of these male and female single Catholics then may begin to look for male companionship in the wrong places, hoping to fill that male void in their lives.
Male singles may long to have a father-figure in their lives, someone who will help them to stay chaste and protected too. Females are not the only ones who many times look for male friends and companionship in the wrong places. These young men and women may have friends who like to go out to clubs, bars (to get drunk) or to pick up women and men which will not lead them on the right path that leads to God. Who can single Catholics have as a father-figure and protector in their lives who can really help and protect them throughout their lives? Well, we know for sure that we have our Heavenly Father in Heaven and our Dear Savior Jesus always with us, if we ask them to help and protect us throughout our lives but we also have a true foster-father who is a powerful protector and human father-figure in our lives. Our own foster-father is St. Joseph. St. Joseph has always been known to be the foster-father of Jesus and the husband of Mary but he is also our human foster-father who lived on earth. Every single Catholic should be devoted to St. Joseph and they should pray to him every day because he is known as the "terror of demons". In fact, the evil spirits and demons do not like St. Joseph because the very mention of St. Joseph's name sends them quickly away. St. Joseph is one of our greatest protectors on earth. He is also the protector of families, women, men, single people, children, virgins, fathers, happy deaths, homes and the Holy Catholic Church, just to name a few. Do not think that St. Joseph is the passive, quiet saint. Oh no! St. Joseph would not be the protector of the entire Catholic Church if he wasn't a truly strong and holy protector. St. Joseph is known to help people who are in the midst of every type of temptation, when he is called upon for help. You have to remember that our Almighty Father specifically chose St. Joseph to be the foster-father, protector and supporter of the Son of God and the Blessed Mother--two of the most important people of the entire world! It is therefore very important to have a picture of St. Joseph in every Catholic home. It is advised that you and your family pray the Litany of St. Joseph every day and pray to St. Joseph for constant protection day and night and for a holy and happy death for you and your family. I don't know of any single Catholics who haven't been strongly tempted by evil in their lives so it is important that you always keep St. Joseph on your mind and in your prayers when you are alone, especially when you travel or at home, when faced with trials, difficulties or temptations and especially when you may be scared or lonely and in need of a father-figure to protect you. When you pray to St. Joseph and ask him to be your foster-father and protector throughout your life, you will not feel alone any more. Keep a picture of St. Joseph in your home, by your bedside and in your car. You are truly not alone as long as you rely on Jesus, Mary and St. Joseph--Our own Holy Family. May God bless you always. St. Joseph pray for us.
