Recite The Miraculous Medal Prayer
|
Many Catholics do not know much about the Miraculous Medal because it is one of the oldest, most important and miraculous medals that was given to humanity by the Blessed Virgin Mary Herself through St. Catherine Laboure in 1830. When St. Catherine was a novice in the convent of the Daughters of Charity in Paris, an angel appeared to her asking her to come to the convent chapel. While there, the Blessed Mother appeared to St. Catherine and told her to "come to the foot of the altar where many graces would be given to those who ask for them". Then, during the second visitation to St. Catherine, Our Lady appeared within an oval with the phrase, "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee" around her.
Once the medal was made, there was a terrible outbreak of cholera in France. Many people died of the disease and it became so bad that people were actually dying in the streets. Then, the sick were given the Miraculous Medal and they were encouraged to recite the prayer: "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee" many times a day. Then, something miraculous happened. The sick who were given the Medal and recited the prayer began to be get better. Antibiotics did not exist in those times so it was with the help of the Miraculous Medal from the Blessed Mother that thousands of people were cured. What many modern-day Catholics don't realize is that every Catholic should be wearing the Miraculous Medal around their neck because it means that the Blessed Mother will gladly dispense many graces to those who ask for them. Also, for those who have sicknesses, they can recite the same prayer, many times a day, and Our Lady will gladly help them.
